Object Name Negative, Glass Plate
Description Robert "Slim" Gilpatrick and his ox team, Five Points, 1910. This ox team belonged to Slim Gilpatrick, whose farm was on Graham St. The driver was his employee, Henry. The sign shows the speed limits of that time. A hand over the 8 points towards the city, a hand over the 15 points towards the open road. It was not until 1909 that the Biddeford police records show any arrests for speeding. There were 11 arrests for speeding that year. In 1915, the speed limit for driving in downtown Biddeford was changed to 15 mph.
