Edwin Bradbury Smith (1832-1914) was from Kennebunkport, and was a graduate of Bowdoin College (1856). He read law and practiced in Saco and Biddeford 1862-1872. He served in the Maine House from Saco and was speaker in 1872. He was appointed and served as Assistant Attorney General of the U.S. 1875-1881, after which he moved to New York City where he practiced law in the frim as Stanley, Clark & Smith, specializing in revenue law. He died in 1914, and was buried in his home town of Kennebunkport. |

Opinion of Edwin B. Smith, written for the City of Saco, in regards to a case involving Charles Dummer and Miss Mary Cleaves of Hallowell, Maine, June 8, 1868. Tax complaint brought by Saco property owners who lived out of town. |
