Israel Shevenell (1826-1912), of Biddeford, circa 1890. Shevenell came to Biddeford in 1845 when he was 19, walking all the way from Quebec and through the White Mountains. He lived in Biddeford the rest of his long life and cast his first presidential vote for Abraham Lincoln. He was Biddeford's first permanent resident to come from French Canada.

The building was occupied by the Cadorette family from 1916 forward; they purchased the building from Roussin in 1925 and operated businesses on the ground floor for more than 60 years.
