Description |
Main Street, Saco, 1870. "This view is from about in front of the Saco Post Office looking towards Factory Island. The low white building in the left rear was the office of the express company. The Boston and Maine Railroad (Western Division) had not then been built. The church steeple inthe extreme background is believed to be that of the Methodist church in Biddeford, which was then located where the [police station] now stands on Alfred Street. [Text written circa 1955, probably by Dane Yorke.] |
