The Jordan - Hill - Goldthwaite House, Biddeford, in 1953. This house was located in the rear of Fort Hill, at Hill's Beach. It was built around 1815 by Captain Samuel Jordan, and was the oldest house in Biddeford. It had been a store, Indian trading post, and militia garrison house. It passed from the Jordan family to the Hill family, who sold the house in 1833 to the Goldthwaite family. It was destroyed by fire June 27, 1960. [Info courtesy A.W. Roberts] |
