Looking towards the river from underneath the railroad bridge at Elm and Hooper Streets, during spring flood (March 28-30), 1953. Visible are houses at the end of Hooper Street and A-1 Used Cars [currently NorthEast Electrical Distributors] along with the large block on the other side of the street in front of Saco-Lowell Shops buildings. The "Spring Freshet of 1953" was the highest in 17 years and reached its climax from March 28th to March 30th. |
