Description |
Biddeford National Band (unidentified), Camp Ellis, 1919. Front of board embossed with the following: "BIDDEFORD NATIONAL BAND - Camp Ellis-1919". Inscription on the back of board reads: "Roy Sherwood - President - To Samuel M. Hall - with Compliments of the - Biddeford National Band - Saco Maine August 24th 1919". This photo appeared in the Biddeford Daily Journal's "Way Back When In Biddeford" on August 11, 1952 with the following info: "When Painchaud's Band, as the official band of the First Maine Regiment, National Guard, went into service in World War I, the Biddeford National Band was formed. Among those in the organization were, front row, seated: Joseph Gagne; Ivan Gendron; George Gendron; Eliadore Bellerose; Joseph Tardif; Daniel Hickey. Second row: - Lantagne; Louis Gendron; - - ; - - ; Archie Girouard, band leader; - - ; - Sherwood; - Sherwood; Fred Bernier. Third row: - - ; Stanley Gendron; - Sherwood; Sam Bernier; Victor Bart; - Sherwood. The drummer boy was - Neault." |
