Description |
Tugboat wreck, Factory Island, Saco, November 5, 1892. Two tug boats, the Express and the William Clapp, which were tied up at the wharf, grounded and listed over after an unusually low tide. Both tugs filled with 7 to 8 feet of water and suffered much damage. A diver from Portland, seen sitting in the background just left of center, came out Monday afternoon to get chains around the hulls of the ships. A large crowd of onlookers is gathered on the wharf to the right. |
