Description |
Biddeford in 1855. A pen and ink drawing of Washington and Adams Streets, as seen from the high ground near the old reservoir. on Birch Street in 1855. The flag pole marks the house of the old Pioneer Engine Company, a volunteer fire company of old Biddeford. To the right of the flag is the first Biddeford High School, later the Washington Street School. Other notable buildings (L-R): The Dearborn-Bacon-Warren Home, at 26 South Street; the Old Central Block (which was later replaced with the City Buildings); Pepperell Mill on Lincoln Street; the Biddeford House (Thatcher Hotel); the Methodist Church at Alfred and Bacon Street is on edge of the frame at right. |
