High wheel and low wheel bicycles near Main and Storer Streets, Saco, circa 1900. The high wheel bike ("Bone Breaker") was just passing out when this picture was taken. The new low wheel ("Safety") bicycle was coming into vogue. Note the high buttoned shoes on the high wheel rider. |
