Description |
Dearborn-Bacon-Warren house, 26 South Street, Biddeford in 1953. Built about 1810 by Joseph Dearborn and later occupied by Dr. Alvan Bacon and then by Frank Warren. The great copper beech tree on front lawn was planted by a member of the Bacon family in 1875. The tree had been designated one of the "speciman" trees of Maine. In the late 1980s there was a proposal to chop down the tree to add two parking spaces. It was spared only to be destroyed by a storm in 1990 or 1991. |
