Biddeford to Kennebunk stagecoach handbill, 1855. In 1855 there was railroad service between Biddeford and Boston (the trip took 5 hours) but stagecoach lines were still running to Portland, Old Orchad and Kennebunk as well as to Alfred, Buxton, and Fryeburg. This picture of a handbill of 1855 shows the type of stagecoach in use to carry passengers from the Biddeford House to the Camp Meeting Grounds in Kennebunk. ~text written about 1955.
