Description |
Uniform sword of the Biddeford Horse Artillery Company, 1833. This is a Model 1832 Ames short sword (or "heavy artillery" sword) with white buff infantry belt. The sword is dated 1833, and the hilt is stamped "S.HUSE NEWBURYPORT" and on the same side stamped "XXXXXI"; the opposite side is stamped "DJ". The belt has a brass clasp buckle stamped "US" and is two sets of initials inscribed in ink, on the front side of belt above the scabbard says "E.O.A." and the back of the leather at the head of the scabbard says "E.A." |
